MAY - Taiko Drumming with Bonnie Soon

Involving the whole spirit, Taiko drumming is a combination of martial arts and drumming techniques. Join us for this lively introductory workshop, where Bonnie Soon will help kids & parents to practice Taiko stance and movements, basic drumming skills, vocal shouts, and song playing.

JUNE - Wild Things, Wild Play with Kathryn Ricketts
Saturday, June 26 at 11 am & 1 pm

Slide into a story! Jump out of a picture! Wriggle around an idea! Drawing from Maurice Sendak’s book Where the Wild Things Are, Kathryn Ricketts reveals new ways to interpret a classic tale. Using techniques from creative movement, to storytelling, to visual play, participants will experience the book like never before.

ArtStarts on Saturdays is a free workshop series for families at our downtown gallery that features 45-minute, multi-disciplinary, culturally diverse workshops led by some of BC's best children’s performers.

  • All workshops take place at the ArtStarts Gallery for young people’s art, 808 Richards St (at Robson) in Vancouver.
  • Activities take place on the last Saturday of each month.
  • No pre-registration is necessary.
  • Workshops are ideal for 5 to 10 year-olds, but all ages are welcome.
  • Pay parking is available across the street.
